Contractors are being urged to only make promises to bosses they can keep by a technology lawyer.

Richard Nicholas says contractors must make sure they can deliver a project within the timescale they state.

The expert warns they should be able to prove they have risk-assessed a project too.

Not only does delivering late on IT projects or going over budget reflect badly on the contractor, he says it can be legally tricky for the client.
