IT recruitment sector "beginning to see real growth"
Contractors have learned that the IT sector is beginning to see "real growth", according to a new report.

A report called Professional Talent Spotlight revealed that February saw a revival in the UK IT sector with more jobs advertised.

The monthly recruitment market analysis came from recruitment consultants Badenoch & Clark.

Matt Gascoigne, associate director of IT at Badenoch & Clark, said that companies seem to be focusing on smaller projects that are going to deliver short-term results and businesses are looking to regenerate revenue streams.

Mr Gascoigne did report that businesses in the public and private sectors were appearing to opt for permanent jobs rather than using contractors.

However, the outlook remained largely positive despite impending public sector job cuts and public bodies such as the NHS were looking for IT trainers as they were introduced to new operating systems.

"Companies are investing in both systems and staff. We''re seeing a rise in demand for support analysts with experience of order management systems as a result," he said.

Alex Farrell, managing director of theitjobboard.co.uk, said that his company had seen a sharp increase in the number of IT jobs advertised as the sector was "beginning to see real growth".
