Limited company contractors affected by calls for government support
Limited company contractors could be affected by calls from one support group for a long-term small business growth strategy. The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) issued a letter to the chancellor in the lead up to the autumn statement, listing a number of ways in which a stronger economy can be delivered through increased private sector growth.
National chairman for the FSB John Walker claimed the letter provides a "snapshot" of measures his organisation would like to see introduced in order to stimulate the small business sector.
"Small businesses can deliver the growth to achieve a private sector led recovery, but the Government will need to play its part in triggering and nurturing this process," he said.
Mr Walker went on to state that more than 80 per cent of jobs created in the EU between 2002 and 2007 were down to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) but noted a distinct lack of confidence throughout the UK sector.
Earlier in the month, the FSB warned SMEs about the "ticking time bomb" of the costs associated with the government's auto enrolment pension scheme.
