Contractors attend meeting for local enterprise

Contractors recently attended a meeting with minister for business and enterprise Mark Prisk to discuss local enterprise partnerships.

Mr Prisk met with representatives yesterday (November 23rd 2010) to talk about the progress that had been made so far by local bodies.

There was also discussion on what could be done to move forward - including issues such as delivering on local economic development - and forge new partnerships.

Following the meeting, Mr Prisk commented that it was vital for these organisations to have the chance to meet with the government.

"It is important that this kind of work continues to make sure that the people who will be responsible for delivering our structural reforms are given the support they need," he added.

To mark National Freelancers Day, the prime minister voiced his support for contractors, stating that they had displayed great courage to leave salaried employment and acknowledged their contribution to the British economy.
