The UK unemployment rate fell only modestly from its 2010 peak, according to statistics from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), which claim that the fall in joblessness may stall.
While employment rose between 2007 and 2010, the increase was small by comparison to past recoveries and other European countries.
A separate study by Eurostat has found that industrial production in the eurozone has increased between June and July 2011 by 4.2 per cent, while in other European countries it rose only by 3.6 per cent.
Industrial production levels were found to be stable in the UK, while Estonia, Germany, Greece and the Netherlands all showed positive increases of over three per cent.

Umbrella company recruiters based in the UK may be witnessing economic recovery but they are still lagging behind those of other European nations, new figures suggest.The UK unemployment rate fell only modestly from its 2010 peak, according to statistics from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), which claim that the fall in joblessness may stall.
